Discover how Custronics' 6-digit LED binary display enhances factory automation, education, and IoT monitoring with real-time accuracy and high-brightness visibility.
Real-Time Numerical Displays in Modern Industry In today’s fast-paced industrial and educational environments, having a clear and accurate real-time numerical display system is critical. Whether you’re tracking production, teaching binary systems, or monitoring live processes, the need for a reliable display solution is universal.
Enter the Custronics 6-Digit LED Binary Display — a cutting-edge device designed to convert binary input into intuitive decimal readouts using 4-bit control per digit (0000 to 1111). This technology ensures enhanced monitoring, precision, and user-friendly readability across a range of industries.
What Is a 6-Digit LED Binary Display?
A 6-digit LED binary display is an electronic system that accepts binary data (4-bit input) and converts it into decimal values ranging from 0 to 15. Custronics’ version uses high-brightness LEDs to ensure readability even in bright factory conditions.
Each of the six digits can independently display a decimal number based on a 4-bit binary signal, making it ideal for showing real-time data from PLCs, sensors, or microcontrollers.
How Does It Work?
4-bit Input Per Digit: Each digit receives a 4-bit binary input (0000 to 1111)
Real-Time Conversion: Internal electronics instantly convert the binary signal to a decimal number.
LED Display Output: High-contrast LED segments display the converted value.
This setup enables seamless communication between digital control systems and human operators.

💡 How Much Does It Cost to Run an LED Display Board 24/7?
If you're thinking about installing an LED message board for your shop, clinic, or business front, you might be wondering:
👉 "How much does it cost to run one of these LED displays 24 hours a day?"
We recently ran a calculation for a popular display size: 📏 1970mm x 530mm (about 6.5 ft x 1.7 ft)
And the answer might surprise you: ✅ It could cost as little as RM30 a month to run 24/7!
💡 Let’s Break It Down
Most LED displays, like the one we tested, consume about 200 watts when fully lit up. That’s about the same as a few regular lightbulbs running at the same time.
To estimate the monthly electricity cost, here’s the simple formula we used:
🧮 Power (kW) x Hours per Day x Days x Electricity Rate (RM)
Example:
Power: 200 watts = 0.2 kW
Hours per day: 24 hours
Days: 30 days
Electricity cost: RM 0.60 per kWh (average in Malaysia)
💰 Monthly Cost = 0.2 x 24 x 30 x 0.60 = RM 86.40
BUT — LED displays don’t usually run at full brightness all the time. With smart brightness controls and screen dimming at night, real-world power usage is often lower than the maximum.
✅ After optimization, the cost drops to around RM25–RM30 per month!
⚡ Factors That Affect Power Consumption
Here are a few things that can affect how much your LED board costs to run:
Brightness Level – Higher brightness = more power
Content Type – Static text uses less energy than animations or videos
Operating Hours – Running it 12 hours a day cuts cost in half
Weatherproofing – Outdoor screens may use slightly more power for cooling
🛠 Want a More Accurate Estimate?
Every display is different, and power consumption can vary depending on:
Display size
Type of LED module used (e.g., P10, P5)
Indoor or outdoor installation
Mounting height and location
Operating schedule
📍If you're in Malaysia, our team at Custronics offers on-site inspections and power consumption estimates at a reasonable fee.
We’ll help you figure out the best settings to keep your screen visible and energy-efficient.
🧠 Final Thoughts
LED message boards are a great way to grab attention, share info, and enhance your brand — without burning a hole in your wallet.
➡️ If RM30 a month sounds like a smart investment for 24/7 visibility, you’re absolutely right.

✅ Real-Time Gas Monitoring with Custronics LED Display + Bebur VOC Gas Detector (AS524 Model)
We’ve just completed an exciting project—integrating our Custronics Large LED Display with the Bebur AS525 VOC Gas Detector.
📍 What’s special?
Our 4-inch high-brightness LED display allows operators and the Department of Environment (DOE) to easily monitor VOC levels from a distance, ensuring workplace safety and compliance.
💡 The VOC reading is originally shown on a 0.5-inch LCD screen, but we've extracted that data via RS485 Modbus and displayed it in large, clear digits—visible even from across the factory floor.
🛠️ This solution is perfect for:
Factories with hazardous gases
Facilities needing clear compliance visibility
Real-time remote gas level monitoring

Let’s make your workplace smarter and safer with visible data that matters.
🛠️ This solution is perfect for:
1. Factories with Hazardous Gases
In environments where combustible or toxic gases are present—such as chemical plants, manufacturing lines, or refineries—real-time monitoring is critical. Our integrated LED display with VOC/combustible gas detection provides high-visibility alerts, enabling operators to act fast and prevent accidents, leaks, or health risks.
2. Facilities Needing Clear Compliance Visibility
Government regulations (like DOE requirements in Malaysia) often mandate visible and accurate gas monitoring systems. This solution helps facilities meet those standards by displaying live readings in large, 4-inch digits—visible from across the factory floor. It's ideal for audits, inspections, and ongoing compliance reporting.
3. Real-Time Remote Gas Level Monitoring
Thanks to RS485 Modbus communication, gas readings can be retrieved and displayed instantly—no more squinting at small built-in screens. Whether you're monitoring from a control room or walking the floor, this system ensures your team always sees accurate gas levels in real-time, reducing downtime and improving workplace safety.
4. High-Traffic Industrial Zones
In areas where multiple teams work simultaneously—such as loading bays, production lines, or mixing rooms—having a large LED display showing real-time gas levels increases awareness and reduces communication delays in emergencies.
5. Facilities with Central Monitoring Rooms
When combined with a central control system, RS485 Modbus communication allows seamless data integration, enabling your operations team to monitor multiple sensors and zones from one location while maintaining clear visual alerts on-site.
6. Locations with Poor Visibility or Noise
In noisy environments where alarm sounds may go unnoticed, or in dimly lit areas, a bright, large LED display ensures that safety messages and gas readings are always clearly visible to all personnel.
7. Educational and Training Facilities
Ideal for technical schools, safety training centers, and universities—where students and trainees can observe real-time environmental monitoring systems in action, learning about industrial safety standards.
8. Remote or Hard-to-Reach Installations
For detectors mounted in hard-to-reach or unsafe areas, the LED display can be placed at a safe distance for continuous visual monitoring—minimizing the need for manual checks and exposure.
9. Process Automation and System Integration
This setup is a natural fit for smart factories and Industry 4.0 environments, where sensor data is essential for automated responses, dashboard reporting, or integration into SCADA/PLC systems.
10. Hazardous Material Storage Areas
In warehouses storing volatile chemicals or flammable materials, real-time gas concentration displays help ensure prompt response and safety compliance.
